This is a great little device, but it is let down a little by crappy software and truly bad documentation. After a lot of trial and error I eventually figured out the tracks will play only in alphabetic filename order. Also, if you use WMA format, and the track is "copy protected", it will appear on the Nano but it can't be played. This appears to be partly Microsoft's fault, their DRM is very user-unfriendly. I recommend you use MP3 format only, even though it uses up more disk space, to avoid this problem. Creative, or anyone else, if you're listening, surely you can build some better software that lets you create playlists and simply move them to the player?

For simplicity, I created different folders on the player and used each folder as a "playlist". But even then it's cumbersome to move between folders. And I used up huge amounts of disk space ripping the CD's to the computer, and then even more when I duplicated the tracks to build my "playlists". The various menu options on the player are also needlessly complicated.

With all that said, the player is very light and the sound quality is great. Battery life is excellent. I recommend the Nano, but be prepared for some effort to get it to do what you want.
